Why I Chose Liberty University

I get questions daily about why I chose a college so far away, or why I chose to attend such a "conservative Southern Baptist" school. Let me explain to you the top 5 reasons why I chose Liberty.

Tricia, a friend I made and Hannah the girl who hosted me!

Madison, my future roommate and best friend!

Madison, Drew and I became inseparable! Can't wait to reunite in the fall!

Virginia sunsets. Enough said.

Number One: Worshiping 3 times a week with 10,000 other believers in Christ.

Liberty has convocation 3 times a week. Convocation is an hour long MWF where there is announcements, worship, and a lesson. It's a time to turn your focus back to God and share fellowship with other believers. It's like a concert 3 times a week with some of your closest friends. Convocation amazed me and I felt the Holy Spirit moving in mine and others heart through the service.

Number Two: Professors pray and share scripture before class.

Professors not only pray and share scripture before class, they ask for prayer requests, and several professors even give out their cell phone numbers in case of needing prayer. Professors not only care that you learn academically at Liberty, but that you grow in your faith in all you do. Coming from a public school where teachers could barely mention the name of God, this is brand new to me and something I will never take for granted.

Number Three: You are given a prayer group at the beginning of each semester.

Every floor at Liberty has Resident Assistants, Spiritual Life Coaches, and prayer leaders. Prayer leaders lead a group of 5-6 people who meet weekly to do life together and it's an amazing way to meet people when you are just getting used to college.

Number Four: The atmosphere.

I would be lying to you if I said that there was no drinking or smoking at Liberty, but the population of the people who do it is very minimal. Many students at Liberty live a sober lifestyle and it's easier to not fall into drugs and drinking than it is to fall into it. This makes way for a healthier lifestyle and focusing on studying more. It promotes treating your body like a sanctuary as Christ has called us to.

Number Five: The people.

This is what drew me to Liberty. When I visited my junior year I knew one person attending Liberty. I stayed with her for College For a Weekend and her roommates were so accepting to me. They genuinely wanted to hear about my life and what drew me to Liberty. I met my best friend, now future roommate that weekend as well! I visited again my senior year and fell completely in love. I knew it was where I was meant to be. The people are so accepting. I tell people that I knew Liberty was right for me because I have never felt so accepted, at peace and at home before. Liberty became my dream school and for awhile I was afraid I couldn't attend because of finances. But, God provided, as He always does! I have already met so many people from Liberty and already have made several good friends!

I can't wait to attend Liberty in the fall and see what God has in store for me!

Thanks for reading!
